Drawing on a light bulb adds interest to a light fixture with an exposed bulb and, when lit, will illuminate your room with lovely shapes, shadows, and hues cast by your artwork.

Supplies:

Clear light bulb—25- or 40-watt work particularly well

Support object to help balance the round shape of the bulb as you decorate

Permanent markers in a variety of sizes and colors

Cardboard

Pencil and white paper

Optional:

Rubbing alcohol

TIP: Many of the individually sold bulb boxes create a great support when cut in half horizontally. If the bulb sleeve is not available, most any small, round-mouthed object, such as a jar or bowl, will work well. Alternatively, you can screw the bulb into the base that it will be used in; however, make sure the base is unplugged while you are working on your artwork.
